World premiere in the South Region A torchbearer in thought, thanks to a Marseille company! – South Region

Today, on the occasion of the passage of the Flame in front of the future International School City, and so that everyone can be an actor in this historic moment, the South Region has allowed Nathalie LABRÉGÈRE, with a disability, to be a torchbearer of the torch. She controlled an exoskeleton using Prometheus: an artificial intelligence (AI) and a brain-machine interface developed in the region.

At the heart of Prometheus is a unique AI model developed in the South region, the result of a partnership between the Marseille startup, Inclusive Brain, and Allianz Trade, the world leader in credit insurance. Prometheus analyzed, in real time, the brain waves, the activity of the jaw muscles and the facial expressions of Nathalie LABRÉGÈRE so that she could trigger the movements of an arm exoskeleton and thus be a torchbearer, this day of the Flame. During her relay, she was accompanied by her twin brother Denis, a volunteer at the LADAPT association who accompanies Nathalie throughout this extraordinary adventure.

” What emotion ! It’s a great adventure that we were able to see today, thanks to the know-how of Inclusive Brains. A startup that smells of the South: unique innovation, an unwavering will and a direction! Nathalie LABRÉGÈRE is one of the first torchbearers of this flame. What a beautiful symbol and message for all people with disabilities. An example of our region’s efforts in innovation and AI that work for the common good. Tomorrow, we can imagine infinite adaptability thanks to artificial intelligence and neuroscience. Here, in the Southern Region, everything is possible! » declares Renaud MUSELIER, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, Deputy President of Regions of France.

“Being able to allow Nathalie LABRÉGÈRE and her twin brother Denis to realize their dream gives even more meaning to the efforts that Paul BARBASTE and I have been leading for more than two years. The fact that this technological and inclusive first takes place at home, in the streets of Marseille thanks to their selection by the South Region is a wonderful bonus. We have developed a solution that adapts to the uniqueness of each user. In Nathalie’s case, she controls the Orthopus arm exoskeleton thanks to our cognitive AI model which processes in real time her brain waves, jaw movements and the few facial expressions she has mastered. AI gives it back a little autonomy” adds Olivier OULLIER, co-founder of Inclusive Brains and director of the AI Institute of the Biotech Dental group.

The Prometheus adventure continues beyond the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games!

  • Prometheus will benefit the community since its mind control technology will be made freely available to non-profit initiatives working for people with disabilities. The arm exoskeletons, developed and adapted especially for the project by the French company Orthopus, will be offered to associations helping people with disabilities. The goal of this unique partnership in the world is to accelerate inclusion and improve safety (physical and mental) in the professional environment.
  • Inclusive Brains was chosen by the Presidency of the Republic, alongside 9 other startups, for the Choose France summit, a meeting dedicated to the attractiveness of France, which will take place in Versailles on May 13.
  • Inclusive Brains will give a plenary talk and demonstrate Prometheus at the United Nations during its “AI for Good” summit in late May.
  • Finally, in partnership with risingSUD, Inclusive Brains will participate in the Vision Gulf summit in early June. Reference business event between the Gulf countries and France, organized by Business France at the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty.
