Ddedicated to the popularization and promotion of Deep Tech in Africa, as well as the future of R&D in the fields of science, technology and engineering on the continent, the event is centered around a main conference with the theme “Deep Tech: Next milestone in transformation in Africa”. Note that Deep Tech refers to all companies and projects developing disruptive products or services based heavily on R&D, advanced technologies, and often originating from research laboratories.

Through this meeting, the UM6P, as a research institution, aims to create an international exchange platform to take stock of Deep Tech in Africa, discuss its challenges and its development prospects, and plan for a promising future. By promoting cooperation and collaboration between stakeholders, this event will contribute to the growth of this field on the continent. From the process of scientific discovery to bringing marketable solutions to market, this summit also aims to raise awareness of the impact of Deep Tech in boosting critical sectors in Africa. These are agriculture, healthcare, energy, IT infrastructure and biotechnology, through entrepreneurship, research and new technologies.

In addition to bringing together industrialists, researchers, investors and representatives of government organizations, the summit is open to all Moroccan students, who will represent a third of the audience. On the other hand, the meeting will highlight Morocco’s remarkable potential in the field through an exhibition space dedicated to around thirty startups with high growth potential. Namely Dipecho and Data Pathology specialized in HealthTech, Sens Things specialized in Blockchain, Deep Leaf specialized in Agritech, and Altarec specialized in GreenTech.

The programming will be rich in discussion panels, keynote speeches, conferences and workshops, addressing crucial themes for the attractiveness of technological ecosystems, particularly for women and members of diasporas seeking to launch into entrepreneurship upon their return.

“As of the date this summit takes place, Africa represents only 0.3% of the global Deep Tech economy. And in 2022, venture capital investments in Deep Tech represented only 3.5% of the total funds captured by Africa. This meeting allows Deep Tech players to join forces, share a common vision to project themselves into an Africa that makes Deep Tech an additional lever to fully exploit its potential for innovation and value creation through science. and technology,” declares Yassine Laghzioui, director of Entrepreneurship and Venturing at UM6P.
