The High Council of Road Transport Companies of Côte d’Ivoire officially presented, on Thursday October 3, 2024, an identification badge intended for transporters, during a ceremony held at the transporters’ headquarters in Bouaké . This initiative aims to reduce the costs of towing damaged or broken down vehicles on the various Ivorian roads.

The badge, the price of which varies depending on the category of vehicle, was unveiled in the presence of several local authorities and a strong mobilization of transporters from all the localities of Côte d’Ivoire. This project aims to restructure and clean up the transport sector in Côte d’Ivoire, while limiting altercations between transporters and law enforcement.

During this ceremony, the director general of the High Council of Road Transport Companies Employers of Côte d’Ivoire, Diaby Ibrahim, explained the reasons behind this initiative.

“The issue of vehicle towing concerns all carriers. When you have mechanical problems and need to be towed, it is essential that this is done on an affordable and sustainable financial basis. Unfortunately, the rates currently in effect on the ground are very high. Through this pilot phase that we are launching today, we are harmonizing accessible prices for all operators, in partnership with the company IDE. The costs of the stickers are very competitive for carriers, because with this sticker you can be towed to the garage of your choice,” he emphasized.

Continuing his intervention, Diaby Ibrahim encouraged operators to fully adhere to this pilot phase. “Operators must register in this pilot phase because it directly concerns their interests. Indeed, a poorly parked vehicle can lead to numerous traffic accidents, sometimes tragic ones,” he added.

The regional transport director of Gbêkê, Touré Oumar, representing the Ministry of Transport, welcomed this initiative. “I would like to congratulate the initiators of this project which will resolve numerous disputes between law enforcement and drivers,” he said enthusiastically.

The transporters expressed their support for this project through their spokesperson, Coulibaly Ibrahim, vice-president of the High Patronat of Road Transporters of Côte d’Ivoire. “This project comes at the right time, because we are suffering a lot from towing rates, the prices not being approved,” he rejoiced.
