Lhe thumbs-up at the bottom of a piece of content has been one of the most iconic elements in the history of social media. Science has thus demonstrated that with each of these “likes”, our brain takes a shot of dopamine, this molecule at the origin of the sensation of immediate pleasure. The ultimate act of membership was not very far away: “following”, a person, an artist, a brand, a community, a media outlet, an influencer… In marketing, we have even come to consider the quality of content with user engagement rate. Each interaction was thus synonymous with victory in this battle for global attention. Who loves me follows me!
