This weekend, the roads of Charente-Maritime saw many motorists respectful of the highway code, with smiles on their faces and caution in mind. What a joy for the gendarmes of the Departmental Road Safety Squadron (EDSR) to meet these exemplary drivers, contributing to the safety of all.

Good students on the roads… and the others

But as is often the case, everything was not rosy on the Charente roads. While the majority of drivers enjoyed this weekend with complete peace of mind, some seemed to be playing with fire. Among them, a motorist controlled at 200 km/h at the wheel of his Porsche on a road limited to 110 km/h. As for another driver, he has multiple offenses: he was driving under the influence of alcohol with a level of 1.36 g/l of exhaled air, while his driving license was suspended.

Limited options for offenders

These few adventurers of speed and non-compliance with driving rules now find themselves faced with a limited choice: cycling or walking. Their vehicle was immobilized and their license withdrawn. The EDSR, on constant watch, reminds us that carelessness on the road does not go unnoticed.

To summarize

This weekend, between respecting the highway code for some and slipping for others, the Charente-Maritime gendarmes had to punish some excesses. The offenders now leave on foot, leaving their vehicles immobilized.
