Rebelote this Thursday morning. Still in Italy (in Brindisi this time), still a Boeing 737, still Ryanair… but this time, it was the takeoff that did not go as planned!

184 passengers

As the 8:35 a.m. plane set off onto the runway at Puglia airport, one of the engines exploded and then caught fire. Raï indicates that the plane stopped its run-up in time and that the 184 passengers were evacuated without incident via the safety slides. No injuries were reported.

In a press release cited by ansa.it, Salento airport indicates that it has closed its doors following this incident.
