A drama within a drama. Last Monday, Loredana got behind the wheel of her Fiat Panda to go visit her mother. Since the death of her husband, Domenica had lived in a rest home in San Donà di Piave, a suburb of Venice (north).
That day, the weather was rainy and the traffic was heavy. Presumably the victim of illness, the 57-year-old Italian lost control of her vehicle and found herself going the wrong way, colliding head-on with a Toyota.
An SUV coming up behind hit both cars. The drivers of the Toyota and the SUV escaped with minor injuries. But Loredana succumbed to her injuries on the night of Monday to Tuesday at Mestre hospital, leaving behind a husband and two children.
Informed of the terrible news, the victim’s mother could not bear the shock, says “Il Gazzettino”. Friday, three days after her daughter, Domenica died at the age of 83.
According to relatives, the two women had a close relationship. “It is a tragedy that adds to the tragedy and further increases the pain. Words are lacking, except words of solidarity for the family,” Marco Bellato, president of the municipality of Favaro Veneto, where the fifty-year-old lived, told the regional newspaper.
Loredana’s funeral took place on Saturday in a church in Campalto, the same place where her mother’s funeral will be held on Tuesday.
