Finally ! Many of you are waiting for it, but the continuation, and normally end, of the saga of Pillars of the earth is available in paperback. From the construction of cathedrals, we moved to the 18th century. A period as unstable as it is full of hope with the revolutions which upset the old regimes. Weapons of Light will be those of reason and freedom. Let’s not shy away from our pleasure of finding this great historical series by Ken Follett.

An honorable exit – Eric Vuillard (Babel)

The corridors of power definitely have no secrets for the 2017 Goncourt Prize. After The agenda who denounced the arrangements of the powerful during the Second World War, Eric Vuillard is now tackling the Indochina War. And its documented revelations are worth the detour, especially as they continue with the Vietnam War. An honorable exit is a fantastic historical and human story.

A summer evening – Philippe Besson (Pocket)

We find Philippe Besson at his best in his autofiction novels. His sensitive style perfectly embraces the twists and turns of emotions that upset youth. We found him here in 1985 on the Ile de Ré. The heat of summer highlights the first emotions and the troubles of desire. Then one evening, tragedy struck. A summer evening it’s a bit of all of that at the same time.

Psychopomp – Amélie Nothomb (Pocket book)
