At the Trégunc media library, 487 books are available to members, and 580 loans were made in 2024: commercial audio books, produced by publishers and read by professional actors or comedians. “We find the entire range of literature in terms of young and adult works and we can borrow them like any document, in the same proportions as for the written word,” indicates Morgane Raynal, manager of the media library. There are also audio books read by volunteers or synthetic voices, published by the Valentin Haüy association which helps the visually impaired and blind but is also authorized to provide any text on request. “These are reserved for people with disabilities or suffering from a Dys disorder,” continues the media librarian.
Listen to a book while exercising or cooking
Audio books are increasingly in demand, especially since the availability of suitable readers. But you can listen to an audio book on a computer or any CD player. Thus, Patricia Troncale, media librarian, listens to it frequently. “I equipped myself to be able to listen to reading while practicing an activity that does not allow me to hold a book, such as sports, the car or cooking. It’s a change from podcasts and, frankly, it’s very pleasant,” she emphasizes. Patricia has just finished, what you did with me, by Karine Giebel, with a different voice for the two protagonists of the story, as well as, a wild animal, by Joël Dicker.
