How to light the Olympic village for the Paris 2024 Games? Why highlight the contemporary city by taking into account biodiversity, reuse and lighting ambiances? This is the subject of this first prescription book from LZL Services, aka Light ZOOM Lumière. It is dedicated to the athletes' village of the international sporting event par excellence. For what reasons?
Paris 2024 Olympic Village and Athletes' Village
The lighting project for the Olympic Village, the athletes' village for the Paris 2024 Games, is designed by a multidisciplinary team:
It offers an innovative, exemplary and environmentally friendly day and night harmony.
- What was the thinking about public lighting in this new district?
- How was the augmented black frame designed?
- Why was reuse in urban lighting implemented?
- How do the street and Olympic ramp lighting change color?
- Which partners worked on this avant-garde lighting design?
How can we light up the world around us?
A source of inspiration for future generations, LZL Services is changing media to offer a new book format. This prescription book is above all intended to be an easy book to leaf through and read. Its editorial line is didactic. In addition, its layout combines several types of reading: diagonal, selective and active.
It is also abundantly illustrated with photographs, plans and drawings by the designers. A way to interest both students and professionals in the Olympic village for the athletes of the Paris 2024 Games.
In fact, without having any particular training, it is accessible to everyone. It is a tool to discover the field of contemporary lighting and the world around us, on a daily basis.
Notebook on the 2024 athletes’ village in Saint-Denis
Light ZOOM Lumière presents a new collection of pioneering works. Entitled “Requirements Book,” its purpose is to describe the work of a team in construction and public works. Faithful to Vincent Laganier's sense of detail on the LZL portal, this book goes from wide angle to zoom in its analyses. The choice of photographs and drawings shows wide shots ranging from the context to the details of the implementation of reuse.
If the lighting designers from the Concepto agency and designers from Studio 5.5 have themselves taken numerous shots of the Olympic village, the photographers:
Their visuals illustrate this unique prescription book to share.
Reuse, variable white and projected images
Did you know? The reuse of building masts and tubes or the variation in color temperature are firsts in France on this scale. These are also an innovation for the Olympic village of the Paris 2024 Games.
First of all, an increased black frame is the starting point for the urban lighting of this new district. In fact, urban light is adjustable in intensity and white tint to respect the biodiversity of the site.
Then, the lighting furniture fits perfectly into the site. Three types of pole-mounted public lighting allow high-end customization. Made from biosourced wood and galvanized steel, this second material adopts an innovative approach to reuse.
But architectural accent lighting is not left out. It blends into the metal railings. In reference to the flame, a helical pedestrian ramp is dynamically highlighted.
“In the footsteps of the athletes”, image projections take place on Place Ampère, towards another imagination.
