End of year celebrations: preventive measures concerning fireworks, transport of fuel, take-away sales of alcoholic beverages in Vendée

On the occasion of the end-of-year celebrations, the prefect of Vendée has adopted a series of preventive measures relating to the temporary ban on the acquisition and use of fireworks for private use and pyrotechnic articles, on the temporary ban on the transport of fuel and the purchase of flammable gas and on the ban on the takeaway sale of alcoholic beverages.

The purchase, sale and transfer of fireworks and pyrotechnic articles, including firecrackers, are prohibited throughout the Vendée department of Sunday December 22, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. until Thursday January 2, 2025 at 12:00 a.m..

During this period, the use, carrying and transport of fireworks and pyrotechnic articles are prohibited.

In accordance with the regulations in force, it is recalled that :

• the unpacking sale of fireworks and pyrotechnic articles is prohibited, whether it takes place on public or private land or during markets.
• the importation from any country in the EU or outside the EU, including by post, of fireworks and pyrotechnic articles is subject to customs authorization known as authorization to import explosive products. In the absence of such authorization, any offender is liable to immediate seizure of the goods introduced by customs agents, police or gendarmes as well as a customs fine of up to twice the value of the goods. fraud.

By way of derogation, the sale and use of fireworks and pyrotechnic articles are authorized for professional uses, by people holding prefectural approval relating to the acquisition, possession and use of fireworks.

The transport of any fuel by means of containers such as jerricans, cubitainers, cans, flasks is prohibited throughout the Vendée department, with the exception of products specifically intended for supplying individual heating devices in the Saturday December 21, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. to Thursday January 2, 2025 at 12:00 a.m..

During this period, the sale of gas bottles is limited to one unit per customer. By way of exception, this ban does not apply to companies, communities and emergency personnel in the context of their professional activity.

In order to prevent any incident or disturbance to public order and public tranquility caused by the consumption of alcohol :

• the sale of take-out alcohol is prohibited as well as the home delivery of all alcoholic beverages from fixed and mobile establishments or using distance sales (website, social networks, telephones and applications) in the Vendée department of Tuesday December 31, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. to Wednesday 1^is January 2025 at 8:00 a.m..
