One last little turn(noi) and then leaves. It's already the end for Johnny Lawrence, Daniel LaRusso and their students. After six seasons, the creation of Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz is bowing out. The first two parts of this final season were released last July and November, Netflix gives a preview of what the latest salvo has in store. The platform formalizes the release of the last five episodes. The appointment is made for February 13th. To accompany this announcement, the series derived from Karate Kid offers a new trailer. For the fans (many), it is an opportunity to see what these farewells will be like.
“Four decades of history leading up to this moment”. The first images emphasize the Karate Kid heritage and the solemnity of the moment. “It may be the end, but Cobra Kai never dies”. With the voices of Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, the trailer guides viewers to the dawn of a final battle which promises to be Dantesque. It will be about seeing the heroes fight for win the legendary Sekai Taikai, and bring in Cobra Kai in legend.
A faultless one?
Since its launch in 2018, Cobra Kai has built its legend in the shadow of the Karate Kid saga. Born under the impetus of YouTube RED (the division of the platform dedicated to fiction), the spin-off series bet on telling the rivalry between LaRusso and Lawrence from the latter's point of view. Between homage and renewal, Cobra Kai is one of the rare “legacyquel” to have achieved success. If YouTube abandons the project at the end of season 2, Netflix sees the potential of this universe and decides to seize it to produce a third round of episodes.
Taking advantage of the streaming giant's large user base, Cobra Kai is becoming known to a new audience and is among the most viewed series on Netflix. It won't take long for the stamp to establish itself as one of the most popular. However, even though its popularity could offer it a multitude of seasons, Cobra Kai takes advantage of his status to end the trip on his own terms. It remains to be seen whether the finale will live up to spectators' expectations. So see you as soon as next February 13 on Netflix with the last five episodes.
