Tuesday November 26, 2024, the Mémoires yvréenne association, with thirty members, presents its book Yvré along the Huisne, in the wake of the hairy one. This publication took a year of work from the team of fifteen people.

Jean-Luc , president of the association, specifies with humor: The hairy woman, refused in Noah’s Ark, haunts the Huisne of La Ferté-Bernard in , causes it to overflow and kidnaps children and young virgins… Until a serving knight cuts off her tail, at the Roman bridge , according to some versions!

Printed in 500 copies

The book, printed in an edition of 500 copies, was presented to an audience of around sixty people, who financed the pre-sale and enabled the operation (individuals, the municipality, the firefighters, Crédit Agricole, etc.).

The town hall ordered 80 copies, 143 were sold in pre-sale, 40 for the firefighters. And it was a printer from who carried out the work.

The work traces an ancient or more recent past through postcards or well-documented photographs on the route of the Huisne from its entry into the commune to the Épau abbey. The reader sets off to discover monuments, castles, villas, mills still present on the territory of the commune or which have disappeared, such as the train station for example.

It is a new look which is offered on places which are transformed by the presence of Poilus from the First World War or by the change of the landscape. It’s history but the shift in time introduces a desired poetry.
