Nicole Audet, author and doctor from the Laval region, has published one of her children’s books in a bilingual English/German format, at the request of Austrian readers.
This is the book Felix Is Curious About His Body, published in French under the name Félix at the Museum of the Human Body.
The request for children’s books aimed at learning English was sent to the author from Auteuil by the Give a Book, Get a Smile initiative.
She enthusiastically agreed and donated several copies of her new work, the first in a language other than English or French. The book is also available in the local bookstore in the small Austrian town.
“I think it’s important,” declares the Laval resident who is fond of bilingual children’s books. Language is a wealth. […] The more languages we know, the more our horizons will be opened. I found that there weren’t many books that were bilingual […] and I thought it was a need.”
The book aims to teach people about the human body. Nicole Audet has designed a museum with eight stations where the main character, Félix, explores the limits of human anatomy.
The former family doctor included knowledge related to blood circulation, the senses, dental hygiene and even certain expressions alluding to the human body, such as having goosebumps.
In addition to the story, the book has a reading comprehension questionnaire in the last pages, a very useful tool for primary school teachers.
