A few months after the book came out The story of a fashion icon by fashion history specialist Glenys Johnson, a new beautiful book on the clothing style of Taylor Swift. This time, it's the journalist and blogger Sarah Chapelleknown for being the creator of the Taylor Swift Style blog, which has dissected the American popstar's outfits since 2011, who is the author. Simply named Taylor Swift Stylethis work was published by Hugo Image, very shortly after the release of the original edition in the United States.

The Popstar Style Bible Written by a Swiftie

Divided into almost as many chapters as there are eras in Taylor Swift's career (if we except The Tortured Poets Departmentwhich the author of course did not have time to process before returning her copy) as well as a short “bloopers” (the star's fashion faux pas), the book clearly presents itself as a Bible of style of the American artist. Very nicely illustrated with numerous photos presented in large format or full page, Taylor Swift Style represents a good complement to the work of Glenys Johnson, who focused part of her analysis on the history of fashion, in addition to the work of Tay-Tay. Sarah Chapelle stands out for the fact that she clearly considers herself a fan having grown up with the music of the artist, only two years his senior. It was by dissecting her looks on her Tumblr that the young woman decided to study fashion and truly make it her profession. Now a fashion editor, she has written for renowned publications such as Harper’s Bazaar or even The Wall Street Journal.

So, reading this work, which crowns nearly 14 years of fandom but also of online activity, is quite special, because the reader can really feel the author's knowledge and sincere admiration for the artist and her work. . Sarah Chapelle does not hesitate to share some personal anecdotes, such as her meeting with her idol during a Secret Session (private sessions where the star invited hand-picked fans to discover her albums in preview) at New York in Swift's Soho apartment before the launch of 1989 in 2014. She also assumes the subjectivity of certain judgments (with which we can sometimes disagree, moreover) when she speaks out for or against certain outfits, while demonstrating an undeniable fashion knowledge.

Outfits like so many emotions

His approach and his analyzes are in any case all the more relevant as they take into account the emotional dimension at work behind each album, each song. Although many music stars have long viewed fashion as a tool at their disposal to create a certain image or send a message, Taylor Swift has truly turned her style into an art that allows her to tell her stories in ways that are sometimes just as important as its music itself or its music videos. In this way, Sarah Chapelle's book is an enriching and accessible read for all fashion-loving Swifties.

The choice of photos, very relevant, also makes Taylor Swift Style all the more pleasant to leaf through as its format allows you to appreciate each photo, each outfit, in detail and in good print quality.

We will only regret the fairly fragile binding compared to the weight of the book and the gilding on the letters which come off easily if you carry it with you or handle it often. The photos alternate between live shots (including from the Eras Tour), red carpet photo calls, street style (photos of Taylor Swift taken in the street by paparazzi) and a few shots from her official communication on social networks. A nice gift to give to a Swiftie or to treat yourself.
