Thus, at the start of the afternoon, some festival-goers listened to the Italian poet Paolo Bellomo describe the genesis of his first novel, “Faïel et les histoire du monde” (Le Tripode, 2024) as well as his work as a translator. It was then Ixchel Delaporte and Paola Pigani who spoke with the readers, too numerous for the number of chairs. At the end of the day, the question of the importance of places in stories brought together Philippe Charrac, Simone Gélin, Corinne Javelaud and Pierre-Nicolas Marquès.
Meanwhile, the children ran through the stands, or even opted for drawing on book pages. Sensitized by the passage of authors in their class the previous days, they were the ones who dragged their parents to the living room. Caught up in the excitement of the events, Ilian and Lina forgot the literature. “They are distracted. It’s frustrating, but they seem to be having fun,” their mother comments with a smile on her face.
On the program this Sunday
The page has not yet turned for the festival. This Sunday, from 10 a.m., young and old will be able to try their hand at dictation, in the Guy-Couzineau room. At 10:30 a.m., the question of History within history will bring together Jean-Luc Aubarbier, Georges-Patrick Gleize, Maurice Gouiran and Gilles Marchand. The first is the author of “Demons of Sister Philomène” (Latlès, 2003) – a novel which inspired the film “ICI-bas” –, the second is an aggregator of History, the third a specialist in historical taboos, while the the latter wrote the “Out of tune Soldier”, 2023 booksellers’ prize.
The neo-Aquitaine publishers will debate at 11:30 a.m. The last official meeting of the weekend, a discussion between Jean Eimer, Serge Legrand-Vall, Agathe Portail and Catherine Poulain, around the trip, is scheduled for 2 p.m. h 30. On the menu: Compostela, Pyrénées-Orientales and the island of Formentera, Patagonia, or even the hamlets of the Alps.
Continuously, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the 36 authors will sign their works. Between two signatures on this first day of the show, Maurice Gouiran reveals the amount he receives from a book sold for 10 euros: 50 cents. Thus, guests are less motivated by money than by conviviality. Increased conviviality in Beaupuy. “I like small living rooms, I prefer them to big ones,” confides Catherine Poulain. “Here, the authors are available,” says Danièle Pourteau, responsible for programming. “And then, Christmas is not far away. A signed book is always a pleasure! »
