The Var Book Festival 2024 will celebrate freedom in Toulon – 11/13/2024 – Var

For more than 20 years, the Book Festival has established itself as a flagship event for literary culture. Every year, it brings together thousands of visitors for three days of exchanges, discoveries and sharing around literature. In 2024, nearly 150 literary events will be offered, ranging from round tables, masterclass, workshops, dedications et quizpassing through big interviews with renowned authors. More than 450 authors will be present on the stands of eighteen partner bookstores, offering a real journey through literary genres, from historical fiction to thrillers, including comics and children's books.

Marcel Pagnol in the spotlight

This edition also pays tribute to Marcel Pagnolthe famous writer and filmmaker born in . The opportunity to celebrate his love for Provence and its language, and to rediscover the legacy he left to French literature. In this regard, several events will be organized around the author:

Un Escape Game inspired by his work, entitled “In search of water”, where participants will have to solve a series of puzzles to restart the village fountain.

A meeting with René Frégniwriter and friend of Pagnol, who will return to the life and work of the “child of the hills”.

A writing competition for middle school students from Varin honor of the author.

A wall fresco and a “search and find” which will allow young and old to discover the world of Marcel Pagnol in a fun way.

Exceptional guests

This 27th edition of the Var Book Festival highlights a wonderful diversity of authors. Inasmuch as Honorary President, Bernard Minierauthor of successful detective novels, will be at the heart of the festivities. Among this year's guests, you will be able to meet:

In addition, many authors from the literary season will be present, as well as Var writers, from local bookstores, who will offer their latest works.

An event for the whole family

The Var Book Festival is also an opportunity to bring together all generations around the passion for reading. Families will be able to enjoy creative workshops, readings for children, meetings with children's authors and activities around literature. A varied program, accessible to all, promises a friendly and warm atmosphere for young and old.
