In recent days, new furniture has been installed at the entrance to the Maison pour tous in Pont-l’Abbé. Wooden doors with small glass panes, shelves lined with red and white cretonne and covered with books, no doubt, it looks like a library. “But it’s a book box!” exclaims Christelle Frouin, the director. The idea was suggested to us by our users, because there is a lot of traffic at the Maison pour tous and there were no book boxes in this area. » The handymen from the creative decoration workshop, Lionel Werquin and Roger Tanguy, already responsible for the planters and the insect hotel, immediately took on the project and got to work.

A hundred hours of work

It took them almost three months of work, or around a hundred hours, to achieve this XXL book box. As usual, everything is handmade and tailor-made from recycled materials (battens, scraps of wood and textiles, plexiglass, etc.), and with a good dose of ingenuity because the two men do not have any tools professional.

“We have just put the finishing touches by installing a green roof for budding readers,” smiles Lionel Werquin. The shelves of this beautiful achievement are already filled with books in all genres and for all ages, thanks to donations made by MPT regulars. “Now, it’s up to the population to take ownership of the box and make it work,” concludes the director.
