Usually, at the La Fouillade Book Festival, comic artists mixed with authors of novels and other books intended for young people. They will always be there but with priority given to local authors from Aveyron (like Daniel Crozes), and the neighboring departments of Tarn (like Max Assié) and Lot (like Jean-Pierre Alaux).

To these authors will be added, on Saturday July 27, several manga authors, mangakas. Manga is an ancient graphic tradition from the land of the Rising Sun which has become a phenomenon on the old continent. Among these will be two mangakas from the Lotois collective “The Godslayers”, made up of several artists and a screenwriter, at the origin of the stories revolving around the universe of the same name. This collective is made up of four members: the designers Sazawen, Lucy Shade, Otak, and the screenwriter Blackheart. They have already produced three mangas (La Route, Dissonance and Rock’n’Roll Jungle) as well as a comic book aimed at children (Raphaël and the Lady of Dreams). The works are printed in France, thanks to the support of their community with the crowdfunding platform Ulule. Two of these designers will be present at the Fouillade: Lucy Shade is an illustrator passionate about manga and fantasy. She published her first work “Journey to Schizophrenic Lands” in 2019, the youth comic book “Raphaël & la Dame des Rêves” in 2023 and her new manga “Rock’n’Roll Jungle” which will be printed during the summer of 2024 after successful Ulule financing. Otak has been passionate about manga since childhood, he drew his first pages at a very young age and presents his work on the internet. He is releasing his first paper manga “La Route” in 2022 and is preparing the release of volume 2 at the end of 2024.
