The long-hidden daughter of former President François Mitterrand returns to her childhood apartment.
Who hasn't one day dreamed of revisiting their childhood home? Flammarion's new collection, “Retour chez soi”, imagined by authors Stéphanie Kalfon and Amélie Cordonnier, gives writers the opportunity to live and write about this unique experience. Mazarine M. Pingeot, the long-hidden daughter of former President François Mitterrand, is the first to undergo the exercise. She had not written in the first person since her book Good Little Soldier (Julliard), published in 2012. The hourglass has started. She spent 24 hours at 11 Quai Branly, where she lived in hiding when her father was head of state. Returning to this apartment is an opportunity for her to take stock of the situation, both physical and psychological. She dwells in detail on the still raw wound of November 10, 1994. Paris Match then brutally revealed its existence to the whole of France. Almost no dialogue punctuates the text. Only Mazarine's introspective voice resonates between the walls of this golden prison with the hope of freeing himself. A successful bet.
