The castle of Monts-sur-Guesnes, which houses the Historial du Poitou, hosts the History Book Fair on Sunday November 10, 2024. “ This is an opportunity to meet enthusiasts of the Great History of France, but also those of the history of science and technology or the history of Poitou. Alongside our historical pillars, each year new authors honor us with their presence and invite us to share their passions », explains Bruno Belin, senator, history buff, author of numerous works on the history of Monts-sur-Guesnes and president of the organizing association, Les Journees de l'histoire.
In 2023, guests were gathered in the store and its games room. This time, a link has been made between these two rooms with the installation of a covered structure where two exhibitions will take place: one dedicated to the refugees from Moselle in Pays Loudunais during the Second World War, the other centered on the brain of Descartes as deciphered by Philippe Charlier.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., more than thirty historians will present their latest publications. First and foremost, Jean-Marie Augustin, professor at the University of Poitiers, researcher recognized as a specialist in the Middle Ages. The public will appreciate the return of children's literature with Catibou, the very local writer from Bouchet. Two publishing houses from Poitou are expected, as well as representatives of around ten historical societies from Vienne or Indre-et-Loire.
