The Goncourt Prize, the Renaudot Prize, the Fémina Prize have just been awarded; we rely on this news to talk about reading with you. “Reading, an open door to an enchanted world”, the quote is from the French author François Mauriac.
Louisette in Mordelles near Rennes has always loved reading. She recalls that when she was little at school, good students were rewarded with Books. “We were proud to get on the stage to receive these awards. We then read these books at home, sometimes in bed under the sheets; I burned a few,” she adds, smiling. Today, she experiences the same pleasure in reading. “When I’m in my book, people can talk to me, but I don’t hear anything.”
Audio books
For several years, vision problems have deprived Joëlle, a listener from Dinard, of the pleasure of reading. “Luckily there are audio books,” she says. “These are recordings in which a book is read aloud. This is great compensation. Voice and intonation are very important.”
