BOXING MAKES ITS CINEMA
This is an original idea to combine boxing and cinema in a book through photography. An idea so original that it aroused the interest of 50 personalities from the world of 7e Art including Jean-Paul Belmondo, author of the preface. Thibaut Demeyer
“Boxing makes its cinema” was born from an original idea by ex-boxer Marc Duvinage, away from the magic square for many years for health reasons. Five co-authors set to work to highlight the boxers alongside around fifty artists ranging from Jean Dujardin to Annie Cordy via Jean-Claude Van Damme, Patrick Bruel and Florent Pagny to name but a few. than these in order to give you the pleasure of discovering these superb black and white photographs signed by the renowned photographer Frédéric Andrieu.
Jean-Paul Belmondo signs the preface
Asking Jean-Paul Belmondo to preface the book was obvious. Who better than this boxing enthusiast to highlight this quality work? It is thanks to Marc Duvinage, who was a very close friend of Jean-Paul Belmondo, that the authors of the book, including Marc, were able to benefit from this exceptional pen for the preface.
No ego…only passion
When you turn the pages of this book, your eyes widen seeing all these stars taking part in the game and inevitably, you wonder how the authors managed to manage each other’s egos. “ There was no problem with the actors, all responding warmly because they are often passionate about the world of boxing » confides to us Frédéric Andrieu, the photographer specifying “ the choice of artists is made naturally and not only out of their interest in this sport. »
An alchemy between boxing and cinema
For this book no story was written. Everything was done on instinct. The enclosures were born from the imagination of the members and became obvious in their minds. This is a purely artistic work.
« Each photo session was a bit like a moment of alchemy and fusion between boxing and cinema through these actors or singers with an enormous career who came voluntarily to support this project. They gave time and energy and we can only thank them for these moments. This book is the perfect example of passion” specifies Frédéric Andrieu.
The spirit of the book
The spirit of the book is to donate the profits from the sale to the non-profit organization “Belgian Golden Gloves”, which promotes boxers – whether pros, hopefuls or amateurs – by rewarding their fight and giving them a visibility. At the same time, the authors support an association against cancer which will also benefit from part of the profits.
“Boxing makes its cinema”, whose authors will not receive royalties, are keen to promote boxing and pugilists. This is why the 200-page book with hardback cover is sold at a very affordable price, for what we call a beautiful book, of 39.99 euros.
The photo exhibition will take place at the Brussels Stock Exchange on November 8-9-10. The book will also be available on site. Also available in online bookstores.
