Born fifty-nine years ago in Argenteuil, in the Paris region, Éric Borget made a career in the restaurant industry, rising through the ranks and training 751 young waiters, cleaners and cooks before, in 1991, returning to his studies to become an educator specialized in prison environments. In the year 2000, while jogging his right leg paralyzed and caused him to trip… In 2005, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis which was progressing very quickly, treated with chemotherapy to slow down this progression.
Today, Éric Borget is paralyzed, confined to a chair, a condition that requires 24-hour home help, a battle he is waging. On the other hand, his brain works perfectly well. This allows him to publish his second book, “Sep'man” (19 euros), on his illness and his daily life with Éditions Maïa. A book full of hope for the community of disabled people, caregivers and everyone… A life lesson in which Éric Borget shows humor.
The book opens with a beautiful text written by Marc Losson, Eric's friend, of whom he says: “This guy has the energy of a wind turbine, he is greedy… His progressive illness is sneaky, a devouring mole, Eric, he was a biker, a jogger, a cook of the enjoyment of good things… Lately, he sails as best he can… He tells this in his two books.”
Inner peace
