Kiki Gaston is missing! will delight young and old alike.

After “Un amour de Petit Puy-de-Dôme” published in 2022, Clermont-based author and publisher Audrey van den Berg has just published a new children’s book: Kiki Gaston has disappeared!

In January 2023, the newspaper L’Avenir published an article on the dramatic situation of hedgehogs, threatened with disappearing by 2025. At issue: the densification of concrete areas, the massive use of electric robots to mow lawns and products chemicals used in the countryside. A single motto: “raise awareness” among young and old of the importance of individual responsibility in safeguarding protected species.

After “A love of Petit Puy-de-Dôme” published in 2022 which highlighted the riches of our local environment and the importance of preserving it, the Clermont-based author and publisher Audrey van den Berg has just published a new children’s book : Kiki Gaston has disappeared!

It tells the story of a little hedgehog who grows up, from the point of view of a young boy who observes him from his bedroom window. This children’s album is a fun and intelligent way to awaken children to the life that teems in gardens, as well as to the environmental issues linked to the safeguarding of this protected species.

Alexandra Jacquin gave up her job as a pharmacist to become an illustrator for young people. In his eyes, nature is an inexhaustible source of inspiration.

Educational

This book talks about a topical subject intelligently adapted to children with an educational extension at the end of the book: “Who is the hedgehog? » There is also a fun and participatory aspect: “Look for the baby beetle in each page”.

Created in 2018 by Martine Baurain and Jean-Marc Dubray, Éditions Walden Jeunesse are the result of a long reflection on our relationships with the planet, our environments and their inhabitants.
