Passionate about writing, François Gonneau is already the author of several short stories, novels, even plays and song lyrics. With “Polar Maniaque”, he launched into a new genre by publishing his first detective novel.

In his new novel “Polar Maniaque” (Editions Le Solitaire), Bigourdan François Gonneau takes us into a “disturbing, lively and sometimes electric” action around the Nogaro circuit. A detective novel that is both sensual and bloody, mixing humor, love and crime. “Innocents are rare there…”, warns the author.

“After my first two novels, “Pass who loves”, a romantic and fanciful novel for adults and teenagers, then “L'imite”, which features amorous manipulations and self-deprecation, I wanted to launch into a detective novel. “Polar Maniaque” brings together two love stories and four deaths in the generous and gourmet setting of the Gers during the vintage car festival. As in each of my novels, humor and love mingle. maliciously added, this time, the crime which required research into the workings of the police investigation to be credible”, invites this man with multiple passions, that of his profession as a veterinarian, to read. vintage cars and writing, among other things.

“Writing extends my childhood”

His desire to write dates back to the 1990s when he was still a veterinary school student. Today, in addition to his three novels, we owe him dozens of short stories, texts for songs, plays, etc. and his next book, a thriller, is already in preparation. And when he picks up his pen, the result promises to be as catchy as it is disconcerting. “My wish is to give readers a good time, to bring them with me, to make them want to read the end,” he confides.

A local story by a local author

“Writing extends my childhood where I loved playing with Playmobiles because I could make them do things and they also made me do things,” he recalls. Just like in his writings today. “In writing, we do what we want, in total freedom and I think that we must also keep our childhood part. I also thank my editor who has followed me since the beginning in my imaginary worlds. What I write is never autobiographical. For this novel, I was inspired by two people. But, for the car enthusiast and lover of the territory that I am, the fact that the story takes place around the circuit. Nogaro will surprise no one”, confesses the one who also wanted to highlight the department of Gers, the welcome and the atmosphere of this exceptional circuit co-created by Paul Armagnac, who also inspired the title of this novel. A play on words among many others that François Gonneau subtly slips into each of his writings. He also takes care of the typography to “offer easy reading, including for dyslexics”.

The author will sign his book in this Saturday, November 2 at the Leclerc cultural space on rue Foch (2:30 p.m.-6 p.m.) and on Friday, November 8 (6 p.m.-9 p.m.), at the V & B cellar bar , in Tarbes.
