Guibertin once again delivers a good match

The Guibertins had set themselves the objective of doing better this weekend in the championship than in Louvain last Sunday in the Belgian Cup (3-0). “In the first set, we held until 7-7. Our adversaries then took off“, indicated the Guibertin coach, Audry Frankart.

Christophe Witvrouwen made the difference. Guibertin recovered in the second round. “I’m happy that we managed to lift our heads after a more difficult first set. We matched our opponents in the second set.”

Guibertin saved two set points before losing 25-27. The visited continued: “We delivered a big third set. Our opponents were less effective in attack, they made a few errors when serving. This does not detract from the performance of my players. We were down 13-16 before coming back. The wingers performed well.” And more particularly Gertjan Vande Velde in this third set. He scored three consecutive points to score 17-16. Guibertin scored four consecutive points from 21 all.

The fourth set was favorable to the visitors after 12 all. “We didn’t play too badly. Our statistics are equivalent to Louvain who served better. Roman Abinet (16 points), Gertjan Vande Velde (15 pts) and Gert Van Walle (15 pts) were effective.”

(16-25, 25-27, 25-21, 21-25).
