Chico came to sign his book at Fnac in Nîmes

Chico, the most gypsy of the Arlesians, was on Saturday October 19 at the Fnac in the La Coupole shopping center to sign his book Under the gypsy stars. My life with the gypsies. A nice musical moment too, since Chico came with his family and treated the audience to some songs that made you want to dance.

Chico, whose real name is Jahloul Bouchikhi, has had a full life playing on stages around the world in front of or alongside the greatest international artists. And he intends to continue to fill it. In the meantime, when he has just turned 70 (October 13), he has chosen to recount this life in a book, Under the gypsy stars. My life with the gypsies (Robert Laffont) (1).

Saturday October 19, he was at the Fnac in the La Coupole shopping center, in Nîmes, for a signing session. A nice musical moment too since Chico came with his family and treated the audience to some songs that made you want to dance.

Born in , through three groups, Los Reyes, Gipsy Kings and today Chico and the Gypsies, Chico knew how to open the public to gypsy music. The man who was also a UNESCO special envoy for twenty-five years, recounts in his book his struggles, his friendships and his meetings. “It’s a book of resilience that also wants to leave messages of hope”he confided.

(1) Book written with Matthieu Perez, journalist and theater critic at Chained duck.
