the essential
“The Secret” is therefore the theme chosen by the Appaméennes du Livre for their 31st fair, scheduled for next June. Preparations are underway.

It’s “a broad, and very current, theme,” comments Nicole Bernard-Villa, president of the Les Appaméennes du Livre association, which is starting this fall in the preparation of their 31st fair, scheduled for June 14 and 15. next. The Secret “is at the center of many novels”, she recalls: “family secrets, secrets in detective novels, in politics too”.
This theme will also be at the heart of the short story competition which will be launched at the end of November by Alain Rouch, organizer of this event. “It’s the end of the incipit, this first sentence which was imposed on the competitors,” continues Monique Itier, secretary of the association. The candidates managed as best they could. The idea was therefore shelved.

Conspiracy, theme of a round table

“The Secret”, finally, will not be very far from the theme chosen this year for the round table organized by Cédric Lévêque, member of the association and bookseller (Le Bleu du ciel bookstore): “It will be devoted to the history of conspiracy, throughout the world, continues Nicole Bernard-Villa. This is an innovation. The first edition of this round table took place last year, and was a great success. It will take place outside show hours, on Saturday at the end of the day, to allow invited authors and the public to participate. Search for authors, implementation of the program… The Book Fair is already being prepared, but in the meantime, the association is working to make itself better known.

“We want to keep the association alive all year round”

“We have a desire for openness and the desire to keep the association alive all year round,” underlines the president of the Appaméennes du Livre. The logo will be gradually revised, to be limited to the three letters ADL, for Appaméennes du Livre. A regular newsletter will be sent to our members, to report on the association’s activities. We have established links with the Varilhes media library. The creation of a readers’ club was mentioned.
The ADLs also plan to forge links with other readers’ clubs that exist in the department, “and why not ask them for the selection of books, then highlight them during the fair”, adds Nicole Bernard-Villa.

A writing workshop, twice a month

Finally, all year round, a writing workshop will be offered to those who are itching to write (two Mondays per month (1), while the slam workshop and the writing workshop have restarted at the Pyrène high school, with second-year students and that a partnership has been forged with the Le Rex cinema, for actions aimed at toddlers combining short films of their age and the reading of stories by members of the association.

Led by the writer and president of the Appaméennes du Livre Nicole Bernard-Villa, it meets on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month (from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the premises of the publishing house Az’art éditions, 11 avenue of Terassa, opposite the station).
