He was notably the singer of the group Cassiopée which performed in the 1980s at the Fête du Palan. Ivan Maurer is a child of Châteauroux. Trained in fine arts after a stint at Jean-Giraudoux high school then at PMC, he was then an effective business manager. Without ever denying his triple passion for drawing, painting and writing.

The man who is now based in , in Charente-Maritime, has just signed his fourth novel, The Crayfish Bridge. In very beautiful writing, Ivan Maurer once again evokes family history, “through the suicide of my grandmother, in 1942, who threw herself into the , in Chinon”.

An impossible mourning

For his children, Paulo, 9 years old, and Tovic, 6 years old, mourning is impossible and absence intolerable after this unexplained death. The father, a career soldier and hero of the resistance, is a poor father and a husband partly responsible for the death of his wife. An ambivalent character, neither all good nor all bad.

Ivan Maurer will tell the story of the two children until the Liberation. He does it with a delicate feather, at the height of the little ones since it is Paulo and Tovic who are speaking. His fourth novel is the first published by La Bouinotte. “I still have very strong links with Châteauroux and the people at La Bouinotte do good editing work. In addition, they are very well distributed in Charente-Maritime. »

In short, everything seems to come together for this adventure which is beginning to give rise to other publications.

“The Bridge with Crayfish”, by Ivan Maurer, editions of La Bouinotte, 153 pages, €18.
