the 17th Book Fair kept all its promises

The 17th edition of the Lempzours Book Fair kept all its promises in terms of attendance and exchanges between authors and readers, Saturday October 5 and Sunday October 6. The inauguration took place in the presence of Isabelle Hyvoz, mayor of Thiviers and departmental councilor associated with her partner Stéphane Fayol, Raphaël Chipeaux, in charge of culture at the intercommunality, the deputy Florence Joubert and the sub-prefect of Nontron Benoît Legrand.

Thérèse Chassain, councilor of Lempzours and president of the Lempzours Book Fair Association, paid tribute to all the volunteers who worked for the success of this event which continues and is renewed every year.

Conferences

Around the central theme “Builders of yesterday and today, from big principles to small gestures”, Noëlle Duvernois and Patrick Spinosa presented their book “Ludovic Gaillard, Perigord builder of the 19th century”.


Laurent Mayet presented his work “Banquise: the last fight of Michel Rocard”.

Laurent Mayet, founding president of the Polar Circle think tank, who succeeded Michel Rocard as ambassador for the poles, came to present his work “Banquise: the last fight of Michel Rocard”, which salutes the tenacity of the man who protected Antarctica in 1991. The author also led a philosophical talk with Benoît Kanabus, doctor of philosophy, on the theme of builders – literally and figuratively – around an inventory of several figures of the History, from Antiquity to the present day.

Colonel Raphaël Nal, fighter pilot, former leader of the Patrouille de , offered a conference around the themes of collective success, innovation, creativity, performance and surpassing oneself.

Furthermore, the Périgord Vert literary prize was awarded to the writer Sandrine Biyi for her novel “La Nuit des femmes” (Éditions Savine Dewilde), which immerses the reader in medieval Aquitaine and features four sisters accused of witchcraft in 12th century Périgord in the lands of Bertran de Born, a renowned knight and troubadour.
