The one we loved so much in The Deadly Summer, Queen Margot or Skirt Day published today Near Marilyn’san extension of Olivier Steiner’s play, imagining a dialogue between the French actress and the Hollywood icon. One discussion led to another, we spoke with the woman whose pen we are now discovering around essential works in her life.

Your first memory of reading?

All the possible and imaginable tales. The tales of the Brothers Grimm but especially Perrault in this red collection enriched by the illustrations of Gustave Doré. There was also A simple heart by Gustave Flaubert, I was at school in a communist city, and I think I enhanced the social with the imagination.

Your favorite play?

Phaedra by Jean Racine. I had the plan to perform it under the direction of Patrice Chéreau, then Bob Wilson, but that didn’t happen. Perhaps this is the piece I will never stop not playing – as a way of playing it? …
