Las Belhas de Brageirac celebrates its 90th anniversary and releases 3 bilingual books

Marie-Thérèse Loiseau, president of the traditional group Las Belhas de Brageirac and Suzanne Sergenton, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of this association which highlights the popular arts and traditions of Périgord.

Founded in 1934 by the poet Rémy Desplanches alias Mery de , the association Bergerac Bees was created with the aim of preserving and promoting the Occitan language and popular traditions of Bergeracois. In its beginnings, the association brought together poets and writers around the defense of their culture, emphasizing the publication of magazines and books. In the 1950s, under the leadership of the couple Lesfargues the association expanded its activities to include dance, folk music and lace art. Recognizing its educational role, it became a Felibrean school and joined the French Confederation of Popular Arts and Traditions while engaging in the collection of testimonies and historical documents. The musician Marcel Piaud, a figure in traditional music in Périgord and throughout , was also a member of this group.
