In Concarneau, the 31st edition of Couleurs de Bretagne looks grim

It’s not easy to spot the amateur painters registered on site, Saturday May 4, at Couleurs de Bretagne, in Concarneau. Sisters Anouk and Anaya Le Bihan, 15 and 13 years old, took refuge in their parents’ car. For their third participation, the Costarmoricans were not spoiled by the weather. But the 45 participants – much fewer than in previous years – were all in the same boat. Having already come to paint in Concarneau, in 2022, they love the heritage of the Finistère city. Particularly the Ville Close and the maritime landscape. Cramped in the cabin, Anouk tried her hand at acrylic, Anaya at dry pastel. “We take lessons with the visual artist Sophie Jouan, in Guingamp,” indicated the sisters who have already won several awards. “It was she who told us about Couleurs de Bretagne”.

Monochrome work

The sketchers from the Arrêt Création in Concarneau also defied the natural elements. In any case, a few protected by the fortifications of the Closed City or, sheltered, on the Hémérica bridge. For her second participation in the artistic event, member of the Concarnois croqueurs and the Urban sketchers community, Nadine came from Rosporden. Wrapped up in her sweaters and a warm jacket, she began a monochrome watercolor: “I’m testing. I have never done this. I have a passion for boats and in particular for the Hémérica and the rust visible on its hull,” she underlined, enthusiastically.

Nadine, from Rosporden, braved the natural elements to paint, on Saturday, the bridge of the Hémérica, the fishing trawler of the Museum of Fishing.
