Record of more than 9,700 visitors

Honorary president Zachary Richard was generous by participating in several activities at the 40th Book Fair in Sept-Îles.

The great literature festival ended around 4 p.m. this Sunday at the Guy Carbonneau arena in Sept-Îles after four busy days, marked by the passage of a record number of 9,700 visitors to the 40e North Shore Book Fair. Under the theme Livresse, the event once again created opportunities for exchange between readers and authors of all kinds.

The general director Mélanie Devost said she was amazed by the atmosphere that reigned during these 4 days. “I have never seen so many people vibrating in the same tune. Volunteers, exhibitors, authors and visitors, all came together in a festive spirit around the love of books. That’s also Livresse! I think we will remember this 40th edition for a long time! »

“Great encounters and discoveries”

The honorary president appreciated this other stay on the North Shore. “It was quite an honor! I had some great encounters and also some great discoveries during this event full of emotions and enriching discoveries. Thank you for remaining faithful to your territory and paying it such a beautiful tribute. »

These special moments were experienced in different ways during the Show: 450 signing sessions, 6 author meetings with students, 24 literary prescriptions, 17 major interviews, 6 round tables… Among the new features, let us note the success of the Zone Manga, integrated into the heart of the 40e Living room. We could participate in a host of activities related to these little Japanese comics.

Success with young people

The entertainment The duel of the poets was certainly the public’s favorite this year, note the organizers. It featured 3 poet-authors who engaged in a friendly fight in the form of oratorical jousts, Zachary Richard, Natasha Kanapé and Alexandre Dostie. Five launches of authors from the region took place.

young people were very present throughout the duration of the Show. The Hydro-Québec Youth Literary Tour resulted in 128 meetings with 17 authors and illustrators in 30 primary and secondary schools from Tadoussac to Sept-Îles.

In all, more than 2,700 young people benefited from activities in their classrooms. Four virtual activities were organized for students from Pakuashipu, Natashquan, Port-Menier and Blanc-Sablon.
