Lien Van de Kelder is running for Vooruit Antwerp in the municipal elections. She gets the third place after list leader Kathleen Van Brempt and alderman Karim Bachar.
The Antwerp socialists are coming up with a surprising move for the third place on the local election list. Former actress and lawyer Lien Van de Kelder is making the switch to Vooruit. “For me and people who know me well, it is a logical, but perhaps surprising step. I do not want to remain on the sidelines, but to help shape the city”, it says in a press release. “We are not a city of conflicting interests. Our city does not win from polarization. Antwerp only gets better by working together.”
A month ago, the formation of the Vooruit list in Antwerp was still a difficult birth. First, alderman Tom Meeuws resigned, then the designated list leader Jinnih Beels also threw in the towel after internal conflicts. The Antwerp section eventually chose MEP Kathleen Van Brempt as list leader and alderman Karim Bachar in second place.
