US Open day 13 betting tips and predictions

For the first time in over two decades, the US Open will have an American in each of the men’s and women’s finals. It will be Jessica Pegula who gets underway first, taking on Aryna Sabalenka on day 13 of the US Open.

With the pair clashing for the second time in three weeks, we look at the best bets to make on the US Open women’s final today.

Best US Open betting tips for day 13

We’ve already outlined our full Pegula vs Sabalenka prediction in a separate article, but those looking to grab some extra value may want to consider the betting tips below as well.

Sabalenka to win and over 20.5 games @ 8/5

We expect Sabalenka to win this match. She has more experience (fourth Grand Slam final compared to first), has dominated the pair’s head-to-head (5-2 to Sabalenka, all in straight sets), and defeated Pegula just three weeks ago. She’s also on an 11-match winning streak and has been hitting her forehand harder than most ATP players.

But Sabalenka has been showing signs of jitters, too. We don’t think they are enough to jeopardise the result – and Pegula will have nerves of her own, too – but they will likely be enough to tighten up the scoreline more than some are expecting.

In their last match, in the Cincinnati final, Sabalenka was cruising to victory. She tightened up and let Pegula back into it, and the match ended 6-3, 7-5 (21 games). The same happened in her US Open semi-final, where she was well ahead against Emma Navarro, winning 6-3, 7-6 (22 games).

With the pressure of a Grand Slam final on the line, it’s easy to see that happening here again.

Sabalenka to win 2-1 @ 5/2

For a slightly juicier return, Pegula could win a set and force a decider. She was close in their last match and has shown she’s no stranger to a fightback. In her semi-final against Karolina Muchova, she was a set and a break down, yet fought her way back to win the set (and match).

Given she’s familiar with Sabalenka’s game, and will know she has nothing to lose on Saturday, it’s entirely feasible that she swings from the hip and takes this to a third set. We still think Sabalenka gets it though.
