In a press release, Pays de Fougères basketball (Ille-et-Vilaine)which is one of the sanctioned clubs, reacts.

On December 20, 2024, the management control commission of the French basketball federation (FFBB) judged that the financial projections presented by the club last June for the balance sheet of the 2023/2024 season were not sufficiently reliable, although that they have been validated by an auditor.

The club acknowledges discrepancies in its initial projections. However, he demonstrated responsiveness and transparency by making the decision, without delay, to rely on a professional accounting firm. This partnership aims to rebalance the financial situation and guarantee a projection towards a controlled net accounting situation by the end of the current season.

Considering that this decision is “disproportionate in view of the efforts undertaken, the dynamics of the club and an unprecedented history”, Country of Fougères basketball appealed to the FFBB appeals chamber “to request a fair review consistent with the real situation of the club”. The hearing is scheduled Wednesday January 15.

In the meantime, a request for suspension of the decision handed down was also made.
