Behind Copenhagen are Zurich (Switzerland), Singapore, Aarhus (still in Denmark, decidedly) … and Antwerp! The big Flemish city in fact wins fifth place in the ranking, and is described by the platform like “The beating heart of the economic and cultural landscape of Belgium “. Antwerp is distinguished by its very good GDP/inhabitant, as well as by the quality of its medical infrastructure and the importance given to green mobility.
Another Belgian city ranks in the “gold” category. This is our capital, Brussels, which is in 19th place. The heart of Europe reaches the score of 887 points (while Copenhagen has just over 1000), and impresses with the cultural diversity which reigns there. Brussels economic activity, and in particular its number of companies, is also a decisive factor in this very good ranking.
Other Belgian cities are also among the destinations taken up by Happy City Index. Louvain, Bruges, Ghent, Liège, Mechelen and Aalter are placed in the “Money” category. Namur and rolls take down bronze.
