In Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, the 2024-2025 season will remain engraved in the history of the club. Between a double Federal French Cup and Elite female championship, a rise in Saforal Power 6 and the imminent jubilee of its emblematic captain, the female volleyball team continues the successes and is preparing to conclude a historic journey on all levels.
A decisive victory against Sens
The Saint-Dié-des-Vosges volleyball women’s team has validated its highest national division this weekend this weekend. Opposed to meaning in a decisive match, the wolves were able to master the meeting, winning 3 sets at 1. After a tight match (7-9), the Saint-Dié players quickly took the advantage thanks to the performances of Thémis Sanou and Kahaia Tauraa, winning the first set 25-17. The second act followed a similar scheme: after an equality of 16-16, the Vosges dug the gap thanks to a solid defensive block worn by Romy Taule and Sol Piccolo (25-19).
Sense managed to react in the third round (17-25), taking advantage of a drop in regime in reception on the Déodatian side. But the players of Manu Dumortier were able to regain control in the fourth set, notably thanks to Estelle Adiana in attack and a series of effective services from Laura Urios. The final point was registered by Sol Piccolo, sealing a victory which allows the club to achieve the double: Federal French Cup and elite women’s championship. Note: Kahaia Tauraa’s injury at the end of the third set turns out to be without gravity. She should be able to participate in the last two games of the season.
A decade of work rewarded
This climb crossed a project launched over ten years ago, under the leadership of Pierre Mercier, founding president of the club, and David Valence, then mayor of Saint-Dié. After numerous seasons of progression and investment, the club reaches its initial objective.
The club is now preparing its first season in Saforal Power 6 for exercise 2025-2026, with new long-term perspectives. A new phase of the project is already in reflection, with the objective of anchoring the club in the national elite permanently.
