It is no longer a secret for anyone: the series The Last of Uswhose season 2 is currently being broadcast on the Max streaming platform, is suitable for eponymous video games. And this second chapter is more specifically taken from The Last of Us Part IISecond opus of the game released in 2020. But from the first episodes, connoisseurs could already note differences, such as the introduction of the character of Gail (Catherine O’hara), or the events in Jackson who occur the same day as the death of Joel. While season 2 is already halfway through, with four episodes broadcast out of seven planned, Télé-Loisirs takes stock of the changes between the history of origin and that of the series which will really impact the intrigue in fiction.
The Last of Us Season 2: Too much information about Abby (Kaitlyn Dever)
Among the new character arrivals in season 2 of The Last of UsImpossible to ignore Abby, camped by Kaitlyn Dever. In the series as in the game, she is the main antagonist of the plot after having tortured and then killed our beloved JOEL (Pedro Pascal). But what diverges at the start of the season is the place given to the past and therefore to the motivations of Abby. In the game, when Abby kills Joel, we do not know the reasons for such savagery. They are revealed to us later because all the virtuosity of the character of Abby lies in the evolution of the point of view that she obliges the spectator to do: she is the object of all our detestation. But each revelation on her experience becomes a moral dilemma that tears us between what she did and the why, a source of understanding little by little. Except that the series gives us all the turnkey information: from the first two episodes, we know why she wants to kill Joel and how long she has suffered and ruminates. Humanize the character and his story so early in the intrigue the emptiness of his substance: we already sympathize with the death of his father. Where will the dilemmas and our own evolution of judgment be? It only remains to hope that this modification has a specific goal in the narration for an unprecedented event to come.
The Last of Us : But why is Tommy not in Seattle in season 2?
In the game, after Joel’s death, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) immediately wants to go to Seattle avenge his adoption father. She does not go through the hospital box. But it was Tommy (Gabriel Luna) who dissuades her from leaving right away. And yet, the next day, she realizes that Tommy left alone for the big city to avenge her brother. Dina and she therefore leave for Seattle, not only in the hope of finding Abby, but also to help Tommy. They also pass a large part of the game to follow in the footsteps of the massacres that Tommy sends among the Wolf/WLF to flush Abby. At this stage, Ellie and Dina are in Seattle and have found the famous theater but Tommy always seems to be Jackson. Will he join them? If this is not the case, this will lead to the modification of many elements of the intrigue to come …
-Isaac’s backstory comes to life
A player or not a player, one thing will not destabilize you: Isaac’s face. This character introduced into episode 4 of season 2 is a strong figure in the game. Not because we see him a lot but because his shadow of a cruel chief hovers above Seattle all along. And whether in the game or in the series, he is interpreted by the same person: Jeffrey Wright. If the torture scene of episode 4 is relatively similar to the game, the game does not offer us a dive in the beginnings of Isaac as the introduction of the episode does. Indeed, we discover Isaac in her Fedra uniform, before betraying her brigade to join the resistance. Does this mean that we will know much more about how the city of Seattle went from the hands of the Fedra in the hands of the WLF?
In episode 4 of season 2 of The Last of Usthe relationship between Dina and Ellie is at full speed
We saw him coming since the start of the season: in episode 4, Ellie and Dina (Isabela Merced) finally concluded! A surprise for anyone. What is on the other hand is that we learn a little earlier the pregnancy of Dina and especially the joy with which Ellie receives this information. Without saying too much, in the game, the path to get used to the parenting of Dina’s baby is much more painful …
The Last of Us Season 2: Scars, alias Séraphites, are already there
For fans of the Games, it was the big surprise of episode 3: discover the presence of scars, also called the Seraphites, so early in the plot. In the game, we discover them through their whistles and the cruel man hunting parts to which they indulge in the city. Whistles that are almost everything we hear from them. Here, they are first introduced as talkative and especially victims of the WLF, with the massacre of the group that walked and the little girl, then as their executioners with the bodies found hanging and ripped off in the TV tower. Does this early introduction mean that we will know more about their origin and operation?
