A dozen fire soldiers from the Neuville-de-Poitou rescue center were hired Thursday, May 8, 2025, just before 10 p.m., for a fire at the Braille Ouille recycling center, along the D30, in Cissé. The fire broke out in a huge bunch of plants intended for composting, about 60 meters long by 25 meters wide and 6 meters in height. The volume is estimated at around 9,000 m3 according to the firefighters.
The fire will last several days
With three vehicles, they set up two attacks but quickly understood that superficial watering would be useless, as for a mulch. They will therefore remain in surveillance to avoid a spread to two more sensitive sites: that of the collection of household waste from the Community of Haut-Poitou communes (with all its vehicles) and an agricultural methanization unit, Bioenergie PJF, installed nearby. The fire will last for several days, while plants are consumed.
The firefighters watered but the mass to be extinguished is too large.

Benoît Prinçay, president of the Community of High-Poitou communes, went to the scene at 11:30 p.m. to note the extent of the loss. “It is a concrete platform with a watering system. Usually, plants sometimes consume to suffocate under the effect of warm -up, but here these are recent heaps, a few days. It’s weird, it’s the first time that this heap has been burning. »» The gendarmes of Mirebeau Neuville were on site to make the findings of use.
The Braille Ouille composting platform hosts the plant waste from the other five recycling centers from the Community of Haut-Poitou, Mirebeau, Quinçay, Saint-Martin-la-Pallu, Vouzailles and Vouillé whose recycling center had been the victim of an accidental fire (heating of batteries), on April 19, 2025.
