“LOL”, the cult film with Sophie Marceau, will have a sequel

More than fifteen years after its cinema release, the French film LOL will experience a suite whose release is scheduled for 2026.

Electro music, slim jeans, colorful Wayfarer type glasses, online discussions and the advent of social networks: LOL (Laughing Out Loud) In 2009 was the comedy that reconciled parents overwhelmed by technology with their teenagers addicted to MSN and swearing only by SMS language.

The Lisa Azuelos generational film was a real popular success and it was 15 years later that it returned with a suite entitled LOL 2.0. Its shooting must start at the end of May in Paris, and will last until July.

At 58, Sophie Marceau stacks with part of the original cast, notably with Alexandre Astier, Françoise Fabian and Thaïs Alessandrin. As for Christa Théret, who embodied Lola, the heroine of the first film, she will not come back. Thaïs Alessandrin, who already embodied his young sister Louise, will do her return.

Now aged 23, Louise returns to live with her mother after a professional failure and a breakup. At the same time, his son Théo announces to him that he will be a dad. Enough to deconance this future grandmother, who thought he could finally enjoy her life after the departure of her children.

LOL (Laughing Out Loud) – or simply LOL – told Lola’s sentimental life, a high school student from the 16th arrondissement of Paris. This strong comedy of a success of 3.6 million spectators had even given rise a few years later to an American remake entitled Lol: USA With Miley Cyrus and a half Moore.
