Spectacular fire on the A16 motorway in the Oise, large traffic jams

Traffic was very complicated on theA16 motorwayin the Oise, on this holiday on Thursday, May 8, 2025. In the morning, around 11 a.m., two vehicles collided, up to the toll ofAmblavillein the south of the department, in the direction of Paris-Beauvais.

An accident that quickly turned to the fire : one of the two vehicles was electric.

A thick cloud of smoke on the A16

The two cars were affected by the flames, causing a thick cloud of dark smoke, visible in the distance on the A16.

Traffic was completely interrupted on the highway tracks, which links the Val-d’Oise to the north, serving several beaches such as Fort-Mahon, Berck or Le Touquet.

Very large traffic jams in the direction of Paris-Beauvais

The Oise firefighters, supported by those in Val-d’Oise, intervened to turn off the fire. Inside vehicles, Six people were present. Fortunately, none was injured.

The situation caused a panic scene on the A16: several motorists arrested came out of their vehicle.
