It’s a day of celebrations. If May 8 marks the end of the Second World War in Europe, this date is also particularly important for Morocco since Moulay Hassan was born that day, in 2003. This year, he celebrated his 22 years. From birth, this young man was promised to a great future: as the eldest son of King Mohammed VI and Princess Lalla Salma, he has the status of crown prince. He will therefore become king one day. For this reason, throughout his childhood, the brother of Princess Lalla Khadija is prepared to take the throne, notably learning the different traditions and rules of the monarchy. For this, he can count on the help of his father, who himself lived a particular childhood being doomed to become sovereign one day.
Unlike other royal families, it is from an early age that Moulay Hassan begins to exercise his functions. It was only 8 years old, like his father, that he speaks publicly for the first time, during a speech delivered at the Royal Military Academy of Meknes. Very quickly, at the age of 13, the Crown Prince realized that he will not have a future like the others, thus becoming aware of his status. Over the years, he gradually gained confidence and participated more and more in many official events with his father King Mohammed VI, whether in Morocco or abroad.
The International Agricultural Show in Morocco in Meknes, which it chairs at 15, the COP22 opening ceremony in Marrakech in 2016, dinner in Rabat in honor of former president François Hollande in 2018, the opening ceremony of the 13th edition of the El Jadida horse show in 2022 … as reported AtalayarMoulay Hassan participated in many important events when he was still very young. He even had, on different occasions, represented the Moroccan royal family when his father had to face health problems. This was notably the case in September 2019 during the funeral of Jacques Chirac, or more recently on June 5, 2024 in Kenitra, during the graduation ceremony of the Royal College of Higher Military Education.

In addition to the royal protocol he must learn and respect, Moulay Hassan follows studies. After having done all his schooling at the Royal College, the Crown Prince obtained in 2020 his baccalaureate in economic and social sciences international option with the mention very well. Subsequently, he pursued studies at Mohammed VI Polytechnique University and then specialized in international relations. According to information from our colleagues fromAtalayarin this establishment, the young man, particularly committed, is involved in many associative activities.

Moulay Hassan in the footsteps of his father, but with his style!
At just 22 years old, Moulay Hassan, who should become the 24th sovereign of the Alawite monarchy, already seems to follow, little by little, the steps of his father, of which he is very close. In addition to having started their very young royal functions, they are both particularly appreciated by Moroccans. At just 22 years old, the crown prince is already “Supported by the most important political, military, religious, economic and social institutions of Morocco”revealed Atalayar. The latter even reiterate their loyalty and recognition to the future king during public events, including the feast of the throne in Tetouan, in 2023, as our colleagues recall.
Princess Lalla Khadija’s brother still has his own style, his own personality. According to political analysts cited by our colleagues, “He is a straight and serious man who inspires confidence. His manners reflect his righteousness of mind as well as his posture ”. While all his actions are scrutinized during each of his appearances, Moulay Hassan makes it a point of honor to respect the royal protocol, each time. “Moroccans appreciate him as a modern, strict and direct Moroccan citizen in the conduct of his business, whether public or private. The student community talks about a courteous and very generous prince ”écrit Atalayar. As the son of a king who has revolutionized politics in Morocco, “The crown prince is aware that he will have to govern a very important, very complex Maghreb country, which is experiencing many difficulties and which aspires to achieve great things”explain our colleagues, before clarifying that Moulay El Hassan reflects a real hope for the future of the country.
More and more omnipresent on the front of the stage, Moulay El Hassan therefore seems to be definitively following his father’s footsteps and wishing to take example from him, to exercise his role as a crown prince and later a sovereign.
