The main US exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), Cheniere Energy, announced on Thursday an increase in its income related to LNG in the first quarter, supported by a robust demand for this ultra-refined fuel and by the increase in natural gas prices.
LNG, or liquefied natural gas, is natural gas cooled to the liquid state to facilitate its transport.
In 2023, the United States became the world’s leading exporter of LNG, exceeding Australia and Qatar, and continued its ascent after President Donald Trump raised a moratorium on new export permits in January.
-Cheniere said that the increase in revenues was mainly due to the increase in natural gas prices.
During the past quarter, the company benefited from a gain of $ 725 million thanks to the increase in LNG contract prices indexed to the Henry Hub, as well as $ 428 million from more dynamic short -term sales, on the background of the world’s price of gas, indicates a document deposited by the company.
Cheniere registered a turnover of $ 5.31 billion for LNG over the first three months of the year, against $ 4.04 billion at the same period last year.
