Putin is preparing for the large parade of May 9, in the shadow of the conflict in Ukraine
Vladimir Putin has to speak on May 9 before Russian troops and the leaders of around twenty countries gathered in the Red Square for the 80th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany, a commemorated event for the third consecutive year in the shadow of the conflict in Ukraine. This year, the Russian president ordered his soldiers to observe a ceasefire in Ukraine from May 8 to 10, during these celebrations which will be crowned, as every year, by a large military parade under the walls of Kremlin in Moscow. Ukraine, which has faced a large -scale Russian offensive since 2022, has not clearly said whether it would respect this truce and the Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Zelensky assured that Russia was “right to worry” for the security of the parade.
