Abdennour El Hichou, the last suspect among Moroccan accused in the murder of two Spanish civil guards, overturned by drug traffickers aboard a pneumatic boat in Barbate, confessed his involvement. In his statements, he indicated that “it was the first time” that he rose “aboard a fast boat used for narcotrafic”.
During his interrogation, the last fugitive, who found refuge in Morocco for more than a year, admitted that he was on the boat with the other three suspects arrested. He said they were sleeping only two or three hours a day and stayed on the boat for almost twenty days before the incident, which took place on February 9, 2024. His statements also confirmed that “Karim was the pilot of the boat”, after the initial presence of a Spanish national.
Abdennour El Hichou also described extreme fatigue and dehydration, arguing that he would not have been allowed to return to the ground. “We only made one trip and when we noticed that the other boats left, we followed,” he said.
The accused also revealed that after the incident, he went to the city of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, where he spent two days before learning the death of the two civil guards three days later, through television information.
As for the reason why he went to the Spanish authorities, he attributed it to the death of his father and his desire to cooperate with justice. The respondent has advanced to have been on board for trafficking in cigarettes and not drugs.
