In May 2023, a fire had hit the swimming pool ofArgentré-du-Plessis (Ille-et-Vilaine). In this month of May 2025, Vitré Community takes up a point on the work through Guénolé de Frémond, deputy director cultural, sports and tourist influence in Vitré Community and Fabienne Belloir, Vice-president in charge of sports and leisure.
Two million euros in work
The tenders are underway and the work will start this summer for the Aquatide swimming pool which could reopen in the summer of 2026.
As before the claim, the swimming pool will be mainly dedicated to learning swimming for young people, and plans 40 000 entries per year.
It is a little more than before 2023 (35,000 admissions). 17,000 children from 16 schools then frequented the swimming pool.
“Shipping to swim is a priority for the agglomeration,” says Fabienne Belloir.
In terms of work costs, it rises in total to 2 millions d’euros hors taxes. Insurance compensation will allow 350 000 €. A less important sum than hoped by communities.
Improved interior spaces
Vitré Community also requested an envelope of 410 000 € to the National Sports Agency. This would raise the contribution to around 700,000 euros. About 1.3 million euros would remain to be financed from Vitré Community, which plans to take a loan.
Other subsidies may be asked soon according to the two representatives of Vitré Community, in particular towards the public authorities such as the department of Ille-et-Vilaine and the State.
The swimming pool will not be rebuilt identically, especially for interior spaces. The energy plan will be revised, in terms of air treatment, and electrical consumption.
“The objective is to include this work in a performance and sobriety project of resources. »»
The Mayor of Argentré-du-Plessis Jean-Noël Bévière Says a “courageous financial decision, which meets a strong expectation of the inhabitants”.
