A few weeks before the Google I/O conference, Google has mistakenly published an article on its blog, unveiling Android’s new interface before deleting it.
But as often, Internet users have been faster, and screenshots are already circulating on social networks (the page has also been archived and is visible thanks to the tool Wayback Machine). The opportunity to take a look at this great visual change, which will be one of the assets of Android 16.
According to the blog article, Google describes this new look as “the most daring design in its history”, enough to end the boring interfaces. “”In the past three years, we have explored […] Dozens of design and research cycles to find the next evolution of Material Design. Thanks to 46 separate research studies with hundreds of conceptions and more than 18,000 participants from around the world, we composed a system that is both beautiful and very usable“, Google Traffic.
Before the official presentation, we can remember that this new look is less “flat”, with in particular a floating navigation bar and other elements that come to arise “above” from the interface, in order to leave the navigation by list aside.
According to rumors, iOS 19, the next Apple update, should also benefit from a new radical lookwith a floating bar (which can already be seen on applications like Apple Invitations). But Google will draw its new interface before the apple brand. The Google I/O conference will start on May 13, while Apple Keynote is scheduled for June 9. Until then, some examples of the “Material 3 expressive” interface are to be discovered below, or on the site 9to5Google.
